Wideblue Earns International Acclaim for its Role in Bringing Game-changing Medtech to Market

Pivot International is pleased to announce that its Glasgow-based subsidiary, Wideblue, has been awarded the prestigious German Design Award. This honor recognizes pioneering contributions to the international design landscape that advance the art and practice of leading-edge design.

WideBlue is a full-service, multi-disciplinary product design, engineering, and development firm that provides clients opportunities to design innovative, first-to-market integrated solutions. Many products in the WideBlue portfolio are the first of their kind, based on novel technology or intellectual property.

Award-Winning Medtech Design

Wideblue received the German Design Award, as well as the sought after European Design Award, for its work on the groundbreaking CRiL Personal Capnometer. This innovation is a small, handheld, battery-powered, fully automated device that assesses a patient’s lung capacity and has game-changing implications for helping treat COVID-19.

Developed in partnership with Cambridge Respiratory Innovations (CRI), production for the device was originally designed for home and hospital monitoring of patients with asthma, COPD, Congestive Heart Failure, and other respiratory diseases and conditions. But in response to the pandemic-driven shortage of ventilators, production was accelerated as a means of providing clinicians with hard data for gauging patients’ needs for medical ventilation and monitoring their post-ventilation recovery.

Trials for this device have already begun with the NHS and throughout US hospitals with hopes for global application to follow.
